2026 Wardrobe Post, Part 2: Skirts

Welcome to the skirt section of my 2025 wardrobe post! To recap, I'm a plus size daily lolita with a closet larger than my apartment should allow and a love of darker and cool colours along with dragons, bats, and magical themes in general.
And as a reminder, my coord breakdown from last year:

Danse Macabre Skirt by Lady Sloth - 1 Wear
This was my "last hurrah" coord with her as I sold her at a swap meet this year! I liked the print, especially the clarity and the variety in colour. However, the high waist had no structure which with my shape meant in order for it to look flattering, I needed to wear a corset under or cover the waist which I wasn't a fan of. I also don't love skeletons as a theme, so when Metamorphose's Rose Palace previews came out I quickly decided to one-in-one-out for stained glass prints. I hope the skirt is living a good life with the comm member that I sold it to!

Mini Corset Skirt by Atelier Pierrot - 3 Wears
By far my most anticipated main piece of the year, I was very excited when Atelier Pierrot announced this as I love their pieces and had been really wanting something in bordeaux for those vampire vibes, and a mini skirt because at 5'2" I feel like it's difficult to get that edgy vibe. Unfortunately, they did what most brands do and made the plus size longer so it's really pretty standard skirt length on me. I did discover a method for pinning up the bottom layer to get the best of both worlds though. My favourite coord with it was definitely this christmas-themed coord for a christmas market meet with the comm! I was really happy with the colour balancing and how festive it looked despite having no prints.

Morning Prayer Skirt by Amastacia - 4 Wears
I've had this skirt for a few years now and it was only this year that I discovered it has a pocket on the right side (the side without a zip). I think didn't wear it as much this year because it's not particularly versatile and I've already worn it with most of the blouses that I can pair it with. That being said, I do still like it quite a lot, so hopefully I'll wear it more in 2026! Lately I've been thinking about shortening it to more of a tea/mid-shin length to set it apart from my other long skirts.

Chiropteran Garden Long Skirt by Mossbadger - 5 Wears
A long time dream item! Unfortunately, I'm on the lower end of the size range for the size I got, so it's a bit too big for me which is a problem for a skirt so long. I'm hoping to trade or alter it in 2026. I chose one of the coords from my vacation this summer where I wore no petticoat lolita for a 10 day camping road trip with my dad! It was partially motivated by my lack of desire to pull my old summer wardrobe out of storage and partly to try beating my "coords worn" record from last year. I loved how breezy and light this skirt was despite being quite long.

Sweet Alyssum Irregular Long Skirt by Atelier Pierrot - 6 Wears
The next few skirts are all tied! I bought this off a friend of mine with a matching blouse and it's been a favourite set since. I love the more EGA silhouette and it's fun to wear in a more historical way sometimes too. The coord I selected was from a tea festival meet at our local Chinese gardens which was really lovely. I did experience the perils of a long skirt with this one, I did step on it and rip the stitching on the lower frill while wearing it. Luckily it an easy fix and it's back in my closet.

Paper Menagerie Skirt by Lady Sloth - 6 Wears
One of my earliest main pieces, I never get tired of coording it! First, I love wa-lolita and would happily own several more wa pieces. Secondly, it has a few different colours that I have a lot of in my wardrobe so I have many options when wearing it. This coord was from a mid-season outing where I balanced the mint and teal elements throughout, while keeping in mind layers that would keep me warm or cool depending on the temperature. This is also an example of the versatility of teal/mint in my wardrobe as the matching haori is featured in my Morning Prayer coord, while this one has the blouse that matches the Sweet Alyssum series.

Layered Frill Skirt (2022) by Metamorphose - 6 Wears
I didn't buy this skirt at the same time as the rest of my Nostalgia Gothic purchase and I am so glad this one turned up on the secondhand market not long after because it's such a versatile layering piece! I've worn it in t-shirt coords, in punky coords and in more gothic ones with overdresses and/or corsets. I do wish I had gotten the plus size version as it can be a little tight despite me being a good ~15cm below the max but I do appreciate the slightly shorter length so we'll call it a win over all.

Fairy Lace Corset Skirt by Atelier Pierrot - 6 Wears
Yes, I do really own four different teal skirts... but they all have a different vibe! This one is a super fancy and luxurious shantung. I decided to pick an ero coord that I did featuring Thistle and Spire lingerie, which we sell at my work! Every summer we have a week that brings a lot of out-of-town folks to our store, so I wore ero coords to feature some of our products. This look was heavily inspired a coord from Artemis_Argyi that I saw some time ago utilizing lingerie pieces.

Dragon Controlling Witch Skirt by ??? - 6 Wears

This is a self-altered JSK to skirt that seems to be a factory dress, I bought it from a reseller verryyyy early in my lolita journey but it took me at least two years to finish the alteration. I'm glad I did because despite the issues I have with the waist being a little too big, I really love the print with the derpy dragon and the slightly creepy girl/doll. I spun the skirt to have the bustle in the back to feature the print more and I really enjoy how the armor overdress in this Dragon Knight coord frames it, as well as the balance of silver and gold throughout. I also used the pearl chains from the original dress on the headpiece in this coord.

Bone Rose Skirt by Acquisitive Crown - 6 Wears

Another taobao purchase - this is one of only two pieces in my collection with a built in petticoat, which surprised me a lot upon receiving it. I am a little surprised to find how much I wore it, I don't have a huge attachment to it, although it is very easy to coord and I don't have as many dark blue/navy pieces as I would like. I would like to replace it in my wardrobe with EE's Duke of Bat, so wish me luck in finding that this year.

Asymmetrical Hem Leather Skirt by Nightwhisper - 6 Wears

This skirt has a very funny story, it was teased by Nightwhisper and used for a fashion show back in 2024. Last year I was browsing their site for blouses and went "oh I should ask if/when they're going to release it" so I dm'd them on instagram as I'd heard they are responsive there. Very quickly I got an reply, that they weren't sure but they had some samples and what size was I. I sent my waist size along and they did in fact have a sample in my size! So that's how I accidentally bought this skirt and I'm very glad I did because I've always really loved leather textures, both in and out of lolita, and god knows Moitie isn't making them in my size any time soon. This is another punky/ero coord that I originally put together for a fashion show my comm was organizing at a convention that fell through but I'm very proud of how it turned out.

Beloved Skirt by Haenuli - 7 Wears

This skirt is such a workhorse style-wise! I really enjoy the motifs, the pleats and it's very comfortable. Sadly, the material isn't as durable as I'd like and the sublimation printing is really showing its wear. The coord I chose to feature was a summer coord with one of the metallic printed camisoles I got last summer! When I made the transition to wearing daily, summer was definitely the hardest hurdle, but filling out my wardrobe with more lightweight tops or alternatives to blouses helped a lot in making this summer comfortable.

Astromancy Skirt (V2) by The Black Ribbon - 8 Wears

I am completely unsurprised to find my two full shirring skirts by TBR at the top of my worn list - they are so comfortable, made from natural fibers and very easy to throw on anything with. I remember when this re-release was announced I was extremely determined to get it, despite being in the middle of a 2 hour ferry ride where data was somewhat spotty I managed to grab it! I often wear it in a more casual way, but I wanted to feature one of the first coords I did with my Nocturne Tulle Cardigan which used this skirt. Perhaps surprisingly, I'm not even a big fan of gold, but it seems that in lolita magic, witchy stuff and celestial themes often mean gold by default, so I just ended up with a lot of it.

Monika Skirt by The Black Ribbon - 13 Wears

My most worn main piece! It's even more comfortable than Astromancy thanks to the larger waist range and it's incredibly versatile. Any morning I'm getting ready and I think to myself "do I really want to wear lolita today?" chances are I'll reach for this skirt and make a t-shirt coord with it. I'm featuring my post-concert day Babymetal Tee fit but really, it could have been any of a number of coords from otherwise sleepy or pain-filled days. I am so glad that when TBR reported there was a manufacturing issue (a misplaced additional seam that sits to the right side of the body and offered partial refunds I decided to keep it instead of getting a full refund, because this skirt has definitely been worth it. However, after getting back from camping and washing it in a machine for the first time I was sad that the outer fabric shrunk and now the lining is a bit too long. I have to hem it up but haven't had the energy to break out my sewing machine.

And that's it for skirts! Next up is the last and largest category, JSKS.
